Dumping Rocks in the sea

Jebsens offshore activities are built on a 25+ years relationship with the Dutch offshore construction Group Van Oord. The relationship began in 1982 and in July 1985 MV Trollnes was delivered, after conversion to a self unloading rock dumping vessel with fallpipe.

The fallpipe and a Remotely Operated Vehicle or ROV onboard these vessels are lowered over the side once arrived their destination. A conveyor belt brings the rocks from the hold of the ship to a spreader and feeder on deck. The ROV at the end of the fallpipe secures the accurate positioning of the lower end of the fallpipe, with its advanced measurement instruments and underwater navigation equipment.

The flexible fallpipe vessels are primarily operated for offshore projects in deep water, when covering oil and gas pipelines, levelling the seabed or apply scour protection.

The fleet today consist of 2 vessels, MV TERTNES and MV NORDNES. The new 30,000 dwt vessel, MV STORNES will be delivered during 2009
