2002 Notable Achievements

JMI bags POEA Awards


At the  2002 Agency Performance Awards conducted by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Jebsens Maritime Inc. (JMI), garnered 2 highly-coveted awards. These are the:

1. 2002 Award of Excellence
2. 2002 Certificate of Recognition for Promoting Human Resource Development as part of its Welfare Program for Overseas Filipino Workers

The Award of Excellence is a culmination of JMI’s receipt of various POEA awards for the past years. Areas assessed include compliance with recruitment laws and rules, deployment volume, responsiveness to the needs of the crew onboard, industry leadership, technical capability, foreign exchange inward remittances, social awareness and responsibility, as well as welfare programs and allied services.

JMI’s welfare programs and value-added services to the crew won the company its first Certificate of Recognition for Promoting Human Resource Development. These services include Officer's Night, Officers' Conference, Leadership Training, Cultural Awareness Seminar, Medical Insurance, Cash Advance/Loan Facility and Seafarers’ Party among others.

World's Best Small Ship Cruise Line

One of our principals, Silversea Cruises, received the highly prestigious award of World’s Best Small Ship Cruise Line from two awarding bodies, Condé Nast Traveler (USA) and Condé Nast Traveler (UK). Silversea is now on its 7th year as recipient of the US award and on its 4th year as recipient of the UK award.

Among the areas assessed were crew service which received a high rating of 94.1% (U.S.) and Food/Dining which received a rating of 95.1 (highest in three years).

Recently, Silversea was also named as the “World's Best Small Cruise Line, 2002 by the readers of Travel + Leisure.

In addition, one of its vessels, Silver Shadow, where we also provide hotel crew, received a 99% rating from the   United States Public  Health (USPH) inspection and 100% in Canadian Public Health Inspection.

Our company supplies qualified hotel crew onboard all Silversea vessels.

JMI NIS Cadet Graduates Cum Laude

DC Leonil Magapan, one of our Norwegian International Ship  (NIS) cadets, graduated Cum Laude in John B. Lacson,  Bacolod on 20 March 2002. He is the first Abojeb NIS cadet who achieved such honors. Out of 373 Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT)  graduates and 54 Bachelor of Science  in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) graduates, only 4 graduated with distinction.
